Election 2019

The Result:-

Tory     33,038    60.2%  +0.2%

Lab      11,408    20.8%   -5.7%

Lib        8,015    14.6%   +4.8%

Grn        2,434    4.4%    +1.8%

We have a lot to be proud of from the results of the Dec 12th General Election in SW Wiltshire. Here is an analysis of why we did so well locally:-

(1) The national swing to the Tories was 7.9% locally only 0.2%

(2) The national swing for the Lib Dems was 4.2% Locally 4.8% and the extra 0.6% was probably gained from the standard lie with one of the graphs on their leaflets that showed they were in 2nd place well ahead of Labour in 3rd. A lie which may have helped them enough to explain the extra 0.2%

(3) The national swing from Labour was -7.9% and locally only -5.7%

(4) Finally as an indicator, in the other constituencies in Wiltshire Labour finished third so our CLP had the best result in Wiltshire.
